The Scoop on Drinking Mushrooms

by | Oct 10, 2021

I have an on again off again relationship with coffee that I just can’t quit. The ritual, the routine, the delicious smell, and the extra boost of energy have been something I wake up looking forward to. I’m on morning duty with the babe and then roll right into my workout, house routine, and work most days so the extra boost doesn’t hurt.

I know, I know, many people recommend quitting coffee + caffeine in general and opt for other morning beverages like teas, warm lemon water, and the like. During my “off again” phases with coffee, It’s usually because I am being mindful of how the caffeine is making me feel. Sometimes it doesn’t help my anxiety and I know it can interfere with hormones, etc. But, I talked with my doctor and one cup of coffee is perfectly fine when I want to indulge in that morning routine. And as always – you do you and do your own research before trying anything new, especially when pregnant.

I did drink coffee (1 cup/day) throughout my pregnancy, but actually hit pause on coffee from 32 weeks – 2 months postpartum bc I just wasn’t feeling it. I wanted my system to be calm and serene, not racy and jumpy.

Point is (IMO): listen to your body AND it’s okay to indulge in a comfort.

Since getting my cycle back postpartum, my hormones have been out of whack (which is to be expected 6 months postpartum, btw) and during September I caught a cold that took me out for 2 weeks. Then right after I got my cycle – I was so so tired. In an effort to get my energy back up I took stock of what I was doing and decided a few things could be brought in to support me. 1. More lemon water to clean my system 2. Get back to taking my supplements regularly (anyone else totally fall off the wagon randomly?) 3. Cordyceps Mushroom powder.

What are Cordyceps, you ask? Well, I started drinking these mushrooms and they have given me incredible energy ever since. I am curious to see if my next cycle won’t be as exhausting after a month of taking 1 tsp of Cordyceps powder every morning. Will let you know.

ANYWAYS – Let’s break down the benefits together.
